Membership application process

​

Membership is open to individuals who have used the services of The Balance Rooms during the prior 12 months and hold an active account and to individuals who teach or offer services from The Balance Rooms. 

​

Membership is open to individuals aged 18 or over who support the objects of the Company and agree to comply with these Terms and the Articles of Association.

​

An individual applying for membership must purchase membership through their account or complete our Membership Application Form and pay the required Membership Fee.

​

The Balance Rooms reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership to any individual it believes to be ineligible or in conflict with the above factors. This decision will be final.

​

Benefits

​

During the year some events, classes or services will be made available to Members at a discount to non members.

Members may receive an annual rebate based on the amount spent at The Balance Rooms.  The rebate will appear as a credit on a members account and can be used against future purchases. This rebate is subject to sufficient profit being available to pay the rebate and at the discretion of the Board.

​

Members will be invited to the Annual General Meeting and have a right to a say and vote on matters affecting The Balance Rooms.

Member benefits are only accessible if membership is active.

​

Member benefits change from time to time without prior notice.

​

Responsibilities of membership

​

Members’ responsibilities are to:

• meet the membership criteria

• pay the annual Membership fee and any other fees charged for services

• Members are expected to support and uphold the objects and values of the Balance Rooms and act in the best interests of the organisation and the wider community it serves.

 

As a company limited by guarantee Members’ liability for any debts the organisation may have, if it ceases to exist, shall not exceed £1.

Membership renewal

​

Membership runs for twelve months from the date of payment of membership fees. Members will be notified a month before their membership is due to expire.

​

Membership will lapse unpaid if the total subscription due has not been received in full within one month of the expiry date.

Rates for Membership Subscriptions are reviewed annually on 1 April

​

Payment can be made by credit card, bank transfer or online payment. Payments can be made at reception, through our app or on-line using credit/debit cards or bank transfer.

​

Why do we charge an annual membership fee

​

The Balance Rooms is run for the benefit of the community and members. The Board aims to keep prices charged as low as possible while generating sufficient profit to cover all bills and have funds left over for investing in additional equipment and decoration.

All membership fees will be kept separate and used to invest in equipment or decoration and repairs.

​

Reinstatement because of late payment

​

Membership may be reinstated without loss of continuity to anyone who pays the outstanding subscription of the previous year and any other arrears in full during the current subscription year.

​

Termination/cancellation of membership

​

Members can cancel at any time but can only apply for a refund within 7 days of their membership start date. Email info@thebalancerooms.co.uk.

​

Membership is terminated if:

• the Member fails to renew their membership

• the organisation ceases to exist

• the Member resigns by giving written notice to The Balance Rooms Pickering Ltd

• any sum due from the Member to The Balance Rooms is not paid in full within three months of it falling due;

• the Member is removed from membership by a resolution of the Board that it is in the best interests of The Balance Rooms that membership is terminated.

 

By applying for membership of The Balance Rooms, each member agrees that The Balance Rooms may use their data for the following purposes:

• The Balance Rooms may use a member’s contact details to send promotional information relating to member benefits and potentially relevant opportunities

• The Balance Rooms may send information and briefing material about potentially relevant sector issues

• The Balance Rooms may store a member’s details electronically in order to process applications, invoices and otherwise administer membership services

• Except in connection with the activities described above or where required to do so by law, we will not share your data with third parties without your permission.

  • Personal information will be processed in accordance with the Company's Privacy Notice and applicable data protection legislation.

 

Intellectual Property Rights

Copyright and all intellectual property rights in all material supplied by The Balance Rooms to its members rests with The Balance Rooms to the fullest extent possible.

​

Members may not reproduce, sell, hire or copy The Balance Rooms materials without consent.

​

Limitation of Liability

​

To the extent permitted by law, The Balance Rooms will not be liable by reason of breach of contract, negligence or otherwise for any loss or consequential loss occasioned to any person acting omitting to act or refraining from acting in reliance upon materials, information or opinion supplied by The Balance Rooms. Consequential loss includes, but is not limited to, any loss of profits or anticipated profits, damage to reputation or goodwill, loss of business or anticipated business, damages, costs, expenses incurred or payable to any third party or any other indirect or consequential losses.

Force Majeure

​

The Balance Rooms shall not be liable for any delays or failures in performance or breach of contract due to events or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

​

Changes to Membership Terms and Conditions

​

The Balance Rooms reserves the right to change or update the terms and conditions without prior notice.
